This position is responsible for developing, documenting, and testing mechanical or optical subsystems and components for airfield lighting, employing knowledge of mechanical or optical theory and methods. This includes routine maintenance of a product as carried out in the Engineering Change Process, quality improvements, design to cost efforts, all the way to product sun-setting and eventual replacement.
Job Description:
?Collaborates and communicates effectively with cross-functional, local and global teams.
? Contributes to development proposals that can be used from feasibility findings, costs of a project, and return on investment.
? Contributes technically to cross-functional project teams in the development of products through a phase-gate project development process from concept to launch.
? Creates, prepares, and modifies Engineering CAD Drawings, including solid model, 2D, 3D, and assembly for new product development and Engineering Changes release.
? Uses simulation techniques to anticipate the physical work result.
? Creates part numbers, BOM's (Build of Materials) and production/vendor test specifications.
? Works with Quality to support regulatory activities related to the introduction of new products.
? Responds to QA issues raised either by internal or external sources.
? Participates in internal and external process audits (i.e., FAA, ISO, other regulatory bodies).
? Works with Production to support production line setup with the introduction of new products.
? Supports production during periods of irregular operations which includes BOM, assembly, and test questions.
Skills/Qualification:
? Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
? Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in Mechanical Engineering for industrial products.
? Experience with lighting or optical systems preferred.
? Three (3) years of experience in mechanical modeling.
? SolidWorks experience preferred.
? Experience with low volume, high mix and configurable products.
? Designs components or subsystems such as castings, stampings, moldings, glass wear, machined parts, support structures, control cabinets for exterior lighting or similar industrial products.
? Designs components or subsystems such as lenses, filters, diffusers, prisms, and collimators for exterior LED lighting or similar industrial products is a bonus.
? Thorough grasp of the mechanical design principles and exposure to industrial/military components.
? Mechanical fasteners, seals, and gaskets.
? Cooling of power electronics.
? Materials properties, and anti-corrosion.
? Manufacturing processes and design for fabrication and assembly.
? Different design and simulation tools e.g. SOLIDWORKS
? Different configuration environments e.g. PDM works
? English: Fluent
? International & intercultural experience is a plus.
