Responsibilities:
? Develop and manage a comprehensive commodity strategy for PCBs and PCBAs, aligned with corporate cost, quality, delivery, innovation and sustainability goals.
? Own the end-to-end supply chain for the PCBA commodity, including supplier development, risk management, contract negotiation, logistics optimization and cost control.
? Lead strategic sourcing initiatives including make vs buy decisions, supplier rationalization, cost benchmarking and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis.
? Manage long-term agreements and supplier contracts to secure optimal commercial terms and ensure compliance with quality, delivery and regulatory requirements.
? Oversee tactical supply details, including VMI hubs, inventory strategies, safety stock levels, lead-time optimization and supplier packaging compliance.
? Engage in technical supplier evaluations, qualification audits and regular performance reviews.
? Serve as the lead and liaison on cross-functional teams with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Program Management to integrate sourcing strategies into product lifecycle management (PLM).
? Track and publish key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier cost, quality, delivery, service and innovation.
? Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action processes (CAPA) for non-conforming components or late deliveries; partner with suppliers to implement sustainable solutions.
? Support ongoing quality improvement and reliability efforts, including supplier corrective actions and continuous process improvement initiatives (Six Sigma, Lean).
? Stay abreast of industry trends, market intelligence and technology developments to adapt commodity strategy and identify new supply opportunities.
? Provide leadership in navigating supply disruptions and driving supply chain resilience strategies.
? Publish regular commodity updates highlighting market trends, cost drivers, risk assessments and strategic adjustments.
? Provide mentorship and coaching to junior sourcing or commodity team members as required.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
? Deep understanding of PCBA manufacturing technologies including SMT, through-hole, reflow, conformal coating and testing processes.
? Technical knowledge of PCB fabrication methods, stack-ups, HDI, flex/rigid-flex, materials and surface finishes.
? Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC-6012 and RoHS/REACH compliance.
? Proficiency in root cause analysis and structured problem solving (PDCA, DMAIC, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
? Ability to analyze and interpret customer specifications, drawings and technical documents.
? Strong negotiation, contract management and cost modeling skills.
? Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
? Demonstrated ability to drive supplier performance improvements using KPIs and supplier scorecards.
? Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and ERP/MRP systems.
Experience and Education Requirements:
? Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics or a related technical field. Master’s or MBA preferred.
? Minimum of 5 years of experience in PCB/PCBA supply chain, strategic sourcing or commodity management roles.
? Experience in EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) environment is highly desirable.
? Firsthand experience in managing PCBA suppliers across domestic and international locations.
? Familiarity with regulatory and quality systems including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820.
? Medical device industry experience is a plus.
? Proven project management experience, with ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver results in a matrixed organization.
